An evening in support of the Bahais of Iran

I had the privilege of taking photos of the SF Bahai event recently for the American Bahai. You can find more info about the event here (http://www.sfbahai.org/aug12.html)

The event was to bring awareness to 7 Bahai leaders in Iran who were wrongfully imprisoned by the state of Iran and have yet to be given a fair trial to denounce the charges put against them. I contacted The American Bahai to take photos of the event for them and they were glad to let me:)

So here they are:

PS: If the music bothers you, please lower the volume, that way you can still see the photos

Rivercats!

Took another swing (pun intended) at some baseball photos again for the Enterprise here in Davis.  2 of my photos ran which is always great.

Let me know what you think!

Sac Rivercats

Ohh yeaaa, is it good to be back.  I FINALLY got my first few assignments with the Davis Enterprise…got to go to the Sacramento Rivercats game (baseball) to take some photos, then walked around Davis to do some “night club scene” shots.  Sure not the most exciting of assignments, but it sure was nice just to be back with my camera.  One of my photos is going in for the front of the Sports section tomorrow, so thats nice:)

Here they aree

I took a new approach for this shot.  Im trying to learn how to frame a shot properly, then wait for the action to happen.  It lends to be a much more powerful photo and Im really happy about it.

_-15

Out of focus cause the lens wasnt set properly (not my fault) but this fire ball got realllllly close.  Luckily I had the insticnts to take the photo instead of backing away

4th of July photos

So 4th of July was great, but the photos were….well lets just say I didnt bother with taking photos of the fireworks, haha.  I took all the wrong lenses and stood in all the wrong positions so I didnt get anything I really wanted.   I did end up with these though

Hope you enjoy:)

Iranian Protest

I spent the greater portion of my Friday night last friday going to the State Capitol and taking photos of the protests Iranians were holding for the situation in Iran.  Being an Iranian, i felt somewhat “at home” with those that were there but I quickly learned the fallacies of claiming national identity as your primary means of self-definition.  I will explain:  The purpose of the gathering was to hold a peaceful demonstration to remember those that were killed during the protests in Iran.  The organizers did not want to promote any sort of nationalistic agenda, whether it be for Mousavi or Ahmadinejad.  Unforuntately, there were some (Babak Badkoubideh which you will see in the photos) who effectively managed to split the group up into those who were there for the memorial, and those who wanted to shout to the world–fanatically–who they feel should be the correct political candidate.  Sadly, the original organizers were practically exiled from their own protest becuase they were adament in keeping this a non-political demonstration. Despite that,  the protest did gather–at its peak–200 or so people all of whom did sincerely want to see a positive change in Iran.

Here are the photos:
