Washington D.C. engagement wedding photographer

6am on a Sunday is probably the last time anyone wants to get up, but Tsed and her husband-to-be were up bright and early for our sunrise engagement session at The National Mall.  They just said we want some fun shots of us together, candid, natural and easy-going.  They are planing to get married soon in Africa, and needed some photos of Tsed in her dress as well, of which I was happy to comply.  I really enjoyed shooting with them, as they totally forgot I was there and enjoyed the moment together, however early it was 😉

One of those times where nothing goes right, but it works out well in the end.  Fresh off of the proposing myself (May was when I proposed to my now wife), I was all too excited when Mark emailed me saying he wanted to have photographs of his proposal.  We set the time and place, and when I go to the Dumbarton Oaks Garden to pay admission to get in, they say they are closing early due to thunder (there was no thunder).  After texting madness with Mark trying to figure out our next plan of attack, and with the rain in full effect, Mark just decided to do his own thing and proposed to Sharyn. She said yes and we met up post-proposal to take a few photos of them hanging out before parting ways.

All in all, although it did not go 100% according to plan, the proposal happened and she said yes so there are only good things to be happy about.  Congrats you guys.

I had the lovely privilege of shooting Sarah and Patrick’s wedding at the Army Navy Country Club, an absolutely beautiful venue overlooking the Washington Monument.  Seriously, this place was awesome and smelled of Mad Men and old politics.  Apart from the venue, Sarah and Patrick are fun, joyous and just an all around good time. They had these cool little sunnys for each of the guests, an idea I was very close to stealing for my own wedding.  They held a emotional and meaningful ceremony and took that spirit and let it all out on the dance floor.  A real treat to be a part of!
